BHM Business Edition

In collaboration with Mercatus and the duo behind SneakerWeekPDX we curated a list of black-owned Portland businesses in the BIKETOWN service area.

We collected the businesses that we selected into a Scout Book that we are sharing with the businesses. Take a minute to flip through the Mercatus Directory and check out My People's Market events. Then, ask owners and vendors where their favorite businesses are.

We looked to these same partners when we were planning the launch of the BHM bike. Between the Mercatus Directory and recommendations we put together a solid event in a great space in Old Town (Pensole Academy) with wonderful food from Early Morning Catering and wine from Abbey Creek. Photography was done by Jason Hill and Better Marketing helped connect all the dots. Invitations were sent to the Black Employee Network & Friends from Nike and the City African American Network as well as business owners and community leaders. The evening was capped off with a panel, moderated by Karol Collymore, discussing the future transportation, entrepreneurship and design in Portland with speakers Irene Marion (PBOT), Stephen Green (PitchBlack) and Marcellus Johnson (Nike).
