Portland Sunday Parkways 2024

Portland Sunday Parkways features community-focused events that transform neighborhoods into vibrant car-free zones, promoting active lifestyles, community engagement, and sustainable transportation.

Portland Sunday Parkways Presented by Kaiser Permanente and run by the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), is a longstanding series of events that promotes healthy active living by opening the city's largest public space - its streets - to walk, bike, roll, and discover active transportation.

BIKETOWN will have a presence at the first two events this year and will have bikes avialable to rent as well as an expanded service area and promotional offer to try BIKETOWN for the first time.

This season there will be three events. Neighborhoods and dates/times can be found below and we hope to see you there!

East Portland Sunday Parkways
When: Sunday, May 19, 2024, 11 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Where: 10520 NE Halsey St, Portland, OR 97220 (Gateway Discovery Park)

Celebrate National Bike Month and open streets during the East Portland Sunday Parkways event presented by Kaiser Permanente on May 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.! The East Portland 3.3-mile down-and-back route will feature Gateway Discovery Park, Ventura Park, and Lincoln Park. Start anywhere on the route and bike, walk, or roll as you explore the neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be areas along the route and at the featured parks where circulation slows for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.

Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways
When: Sunday, June 16, 2024, 11 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Where: NE 37th Avenue and Ainsworth Street Portland, OR 97211 (Fernhill Park)

Celebrate Father’s Day and open streets during the NE Cully Portland Sunday Parkways event presented by Kaiser Permanente on June 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.! The Northeast Cully 6.2-mile looped route rises significantly as one travels from north to south stopping along the way at Fernhill Park, Kʰunamokwst Park, Wellington Park, and Roseway Parkway. Start anywhere on the route and bike, walk, or roll as you explore the neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be areas along the route and at the featured parks where circulation slows for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.

Southwest Sunday Parkways
When: Sunday, September 22, 2024, 11 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Where: SW 45th Avenue and Vermont Street (Gabriel Park)

Celebrate World Car-Free Day and open streets during the SW Portland Sunday Parkways event presented by Kaiser Permanente on September 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.! The Southwest Portland route will feature a 2-mile multi-modal route along with a separate 1.5-mile walking route. Start anywhere on the route and bike, walk, or roll as you explore the neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be areas along the route and at the featured parks where circulation slows for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.
