Wrapping it up

A look back at our top stories from 2017.

KAISER PERMANENTE NAMED OFFICIAL HEALTH SPONSOR OF BIKETOWN - This year we warmly welcomed Kaiser Permanente as our exclusive health sponsor. We partnered on a super fun scavenger hunt series at Sunday Parkways all summer long and look forward to a healthy 2018 with them!

SUPER HUB ZONES - Super Hub Zones were piloted in 2017 and will stay in place following their success. These zones, at Portland State and the CEID, offer added flexibility by allowing you to lock BIKETOWN to any rack with no out of hub fees.

SERVICE AREA EXPANSION - In June of this year we expanded our service area to include more of NE Alberta & Killingsworth with “community stations”, dual-purposing existing parking corrals to accept BIKETOWN. Thanks to the Alberta Business District for their support.

BIKETOWN BETRUE - This project took a lot of work and paid off big. 50 custom bikes wrapped for the 2017 PRIDE Parade that brought together many of our friends and partners in business, government, sports and from across the city, as PRIDE is meant to do.

BIKETOWN FOR ALL GROWS - A big goal for this program in 2017 was to make it easier for more folks to sign up for. We accomplished that with a ton of work by our partners at The City of Portland, PBOT and the Community Cycling Center. The online registration and Spanish language info page take it to the next level!

#WOMENWHOBIKE: WE GOT TO HANG OUT PODCAST WITH CORIN TUCKER ON BIKETOWN - We kicked off our 2nd annual Women's Bike Month in 2017 with this podcast from We Got To Hangout riding BIKETOWN with Corin Tucker of Sleater-KInney. And wrapped it up with a killer party at WILDFANG!

FIRSTS WITH ADAPTIVE BIKETOWN - While we don't operate this program it is an extension of BIKETOWN and illustrates PBOT's and Nike's continued commitment to giving every body the opportunity to enjoy a bike ride in Portland.

Cheers and Happy New Year everyone!
