We've had the opportunity to experience our streets, neighborhoods and community in a new way, in an active way, for eleven years now with Sunday Parkways. We love to see friends and families walking and rolling in new parts of town and with partners like PBOT, Nike and Kaiser Permanente we have a lot of inspiration to get out there and do our best to introduce new people to BIKETOWN.
This season we got to have some fun and do something a little different. We rolled out the BIKETOWN Community Design Challenge winners at 4 of the 5 events! The artists and designers created works that they felt reflected one of Portland's five "quadrants" and our members voted to select the winning designs. Our team hosted these bikes alongside a fleet of classic orange bikes, available for rent onsite. After the first hour, and an inaugural ride by the designer, the bikes were all available to ride and we watched them roll out of the tent and into the streets of Portland quickly.
